Zubel Kachadoorian, Resident Artist Lecture 1964
Abstract
Zubel Kachadoorian gives a lecture talking about his interdisciplinary practice which spans painting, sculpture, drawing, charcoal, pencil, and egg tempera. Kachadoorian explains how he worked for a number of years as a mason which in particular shaped his artistic practice as a sculptor. For Kachadoorian, at the core of his practice is a desire to engage with the human scale in order to be able to tap into his ideas. Kachadoorian ends his lecture urging participants to always strive to go to a place in their work that may not be familiar, or a place where they may not initially feel wanted, because that is where true growth can flourish for them as artists.
