Skowhegan and Socrates Sculpture Park announces: SkowheganPERFORMS 2023!
Skowhegan, in conjunction with Socrates Sculpture Park, is pleased to announce an open call for SkowheganPERFORMS, a day of innovative performance that will take place Saturday, September 30, 2023. This event will coincide with the opening of the 2023 Socrates Annual, the culminating exhibition of works made by the 2023 Socrates artists-in-residence. Following their lead, the thematic prompt for these performances is “transformation.” Apply by August 21st, 2023.
Skowhegan announces the 2022 Awards Dinner honoring Byron Kim and the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation & Jack Cowart
Skowhegan will hold its 52nd annual Awards Dinner at Guastavino's on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Skowhegan will honor artist Byron Kim with the Skowhegan Medal for Painting, presented by artist Glenn Ligon. The Roy Lichtenstein Foundation & Jack Cowart, founding executive director, will receive the Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney Award for Outstanding Patronage of the Arts, presented by artist Carmen Winant.

The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture will hold it's 47th annual Awards Dinner at the Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Celebrating exceptional talent and outstanding dedication to the visual arts, Skowhegan will present four awards: the Skowhegan Medal for Painting, to Peter Doig; the Skowhegan Medal for Sculpture, to Betye Saar; the Governors' Award for Outstanding Service to Artists, to Barbara Lapcek and the Inaugural Skowhegan Impact Award, to ArtPlace America and Jamie Bennett, Executive Director.

Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture announces 2014 Awards Dinner Honorees
The Skowhegan Awards Dinner will celebrate Theaster Gates who will receive the Skowhegan Medal for Sculpture in the Expanded Field presented by artist Carrie Mae Weems (F '00). Kate D. Levin, former Commissioner of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (2002–13), will receive a special Exceptional Civic Leadership award presented by artist and Skowhegan Governor Fred Wilson (F '95). Lucy Lippard (F '79) will receive the Governors’ Award for Outstanding Service to Artists presented by artist and former Skowhegan Governor Joyce Kozloff (F '98). Louise & Leonard Riggio will receive the Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney Award for Outstanding Patronage of the Arts. Artist Richard Serra (F '85) will present the award to Mr. & Mrs. Riggio.
