DECISION REGARDING 2021 SUMMER SESSION
Letter From Sarah Workneh, Co-Director of Skowhegan
January 19, 2021
As I mentioned in my last letter (Nov. 23), we have spent the past several months analyzing what it would take to safely run a program during the summer of 2021. One thing that has remained true as we all have negotiated our lives, jobs, families, resources, distances, is that it is very difficult to plan when so much is still precarious and in flux. After many conversations with our Boards, staff, and medical professionals; assessing all of our facilities, housing, and schedules; and reflecting as an organization on the purpose of Skowhegan, we have decided that we will not run our program for the 2021 summer.
We alerted the applicant community to this news on January 19th and offered to return application fees submitted for the 2020 application cycle through refund or a voucher, with a deadline to request these fees by April 2, 2021. This three-month period to request either a refund or a voucher has now ended.
We anticipate that the application for 2022 will open in November 2021. We have not retained any application materials. Each applicant will need to submit all application materials anew. If you requested and received a voucher, you will be able to use the voucher to pay for your application fee during any of the staggered fee brackets.
We thank you for your patience over the past two summer cycles throughout so much uncertainty. We hope that you will consider applying again when we re-open the program for 2022.

FAQ: Voucher
-
No, the 2022 Application Fee Voucher is only valid for use towards the 2022 Application fee. The application period to apply for the 2022 Session will end on January 10, 2022.
-
Yes. If you chose to accept the voucher as your refund, you may use it during any 2022 application fee bracket, no matter how much you originally paid when applying for 2020. For example, if your 2020 application fee was only $20, your voucher is valid during any of the fee brackets in 2022 including the $80 phase.
-
Vouchers are unique codes that are linked to the name that you originally used to apply for the 2020 Session. This means that you cannot give or sell your voucher to someone else to use in 2022. If you want a voucher instead of a direct refund and your name or email has changed since your application submission for the 2020 Session, please contact help@skowheganart.org so that we can adjust our records accordingly.
