William King, Visiting Artist Lecture 1975

William King gives a lecture at Skowhegan where he shows a series of slides of works which range from glass, sculpture, painting, wax, woodcarving and bronze. King talks about personal narratives and anecdotes in his life which have informed the kinds of art he makes, particularly reflecting on the importance living abroad has had for him. By living abroad, King tells the participants that he found the courage to work with unconventional material in his practice: coat hangers, cotton, and aluminum to name a few. King ends his lecture telling participants that if they like what they are making, they should fill up their spaces with these works.
